Franklin Silencers History |
Mr R.L.Franklin first established the Company in 1969.
He was operating out of an 800 sq,ft site with a work force of 4 and a turnover of just £10.000.00 per year. The current owner Mr.G.W.Bateman joined the Company the following year as works Manager, and together they soon outgrew the original building and moved the Company to a part of our current site in 1974. The Company started to build a strong customer base and a good reputation for quality and service. Unfortunately suddenly in the autumn of 1976 Mr Franklin passed away. The Company maintained strong growth over the following years and by 1984 an extra 7000 sq,ft of factory floor space had been added taking the total up to 10500 sq,ft . |
It was at this time that the Company completed the buyout of a tube Manipulation Company this both increased turnover and the range of products and expertise we were able to offer our Customers. In 1990 a further 3500 sq,ft were added to deal with the ever increasing order book. The Company was doing well, our Customers were happy and benefited from a level of technical expertise and service that was second to none in our field. The only cloud on the horizon was the fact that we were increasingly reliant on our two main customers, so in 1995 a decision was reached to expand the Customer base further to minimise our exposure.

This tactic has proven to be both prudent and successful. In the year 2000 we completed another buyout on this occasion it was a rival exhaust system manufacture and once again expanding both our Customer base and turnover. At present we operate from in excess of 20,000 sq,ft of floor space with a workforce of 55 people and this year we will have a turnover of at least 2.4 million pounds. |

Over the years we have built up an excellent reputation for the design, manufacture, and supply of industrial silencers as well as relevant tubular products and associated fabrications. We are constantly striving to meet our Customers needs and will continue to do so, for in business...
